“The Apl Song” July 26 campaign RECAP

My aunt from San Francisco just sent me an email about the Black Eyed Peas’ “The Apl Song” . She said that they were looking at “out of the box thinking” ways for the American politicians to act on the plight of our World War II Filipino veterans.

Well what happened to the July 26 campaign?

Reading the email…

July 26 has come and gone! If you missed yesterday’s episode of MTV’s Total Request Live, you also missed a once in a lifetime tribute to our veterans. A crowd of hardcore “Apl Song” fans
gathered outside MTV studios and proudly waved signs depicting the Philippine flag and reading “Apl is #1″, “Vanessa play APL", “TRL loves APL", and “Support Filipino WWII Vets". And for the few seconds they were shown, a national audience bore witness.

Unfortunately, the countdown belonged to Usher as his “Confessions” video once again took the top spot. And yet, no sign of “The Apl Song” music video in the Top 10 despite a national online campaign of write-in votes. (I figured my own 100 plus votes online would have been enough) Regardless, a total disappointment would not be in the books as MTV VJ Vanessa Minnillo acknowledged “The Apl Song” crew outside during the end of the show:

“We gotta give a shoutout to fans outside showing their love, Black Eyed Peas fans! Their new song “A-P-L” is actually a hot new song. Great video. Great message. If y’all want to see it, you gotta vote it on to [Total Request]…”

So just when you thought this was all a conspiracy theory to keep “The Apl Song” video away from the countdown, MTV tells us they know we voted and Vanessa herself lays down the following challenge: KEEP VOTING!

THE CAMPAIGN CONTINUES…
Believe it or not, we did it! This July 26 campaign was just the WAKE UP CALL. Make every day a day to recognize our “forgotten heroes” and keep voting those write-in “Apl Song” votes! Make it a part of your daily web-surfing routine… vote here

Tell all of your family, friends, and THEIR family and friends and let them know why this is important. Who’s down? Gather as many of them as possible to join our exclusive mailing list at: http://www.coollist.com/subscribe/subto.cgi?l=the_apl_song&C=95312
We’ll remind them with all our “Apl Song” updates!

The music video will be back online Monday, August 2 at: http://www.xylophonefilms.com/bep.html
