After the fire
On the way to a trade fair this morning, we passed by the ruins from the fire that left more than 1,000 families homeless in four barangays in the boundary of the cities of Pasay and Makati last Monday night. And you know what caused the fire? According to the Pasay City fire marshal, the fire started at around 7:30 p.m., when Ramonito Alavera threw an oil lamp at his wife while they were fighting inside their house in Barangay 143. How stupid!…more photos.

i\’m guessing a \’barangay\’ is a shanty town?
Umm yeah it\’s sad, but thats what can happen so easily in unsafe, improper housing.
not quite. a barangay is the smallest unit in a town or municipality. Within a city, there are towns. Within a town , there are barangays. Something like that. Most houses that got burned are from squatters. It\’s the risk they take when they live so close to each other. bah
